84EM is a software engineering and consulting practice founded in 2012 by Andrew Miller, Principal Engineer & Consultant.

Based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, we serve digital agencies, small businesses, and enterprises that need deep technical expertise — with WordPress as our primary platform.

I’ve been building for the web since 1995, with WordPress as my primary platform since 2012.

WordPress is the core of my practice, but projects regularly take me across the full stack — headless architectures, static site generators, CI/CD pipelines, server infrastructure, API integrations, and AI implementations.

I work with a vetted network of agencies and specialists to provide additional capacity as needed.

When projects need design, marketing, or other services beyond my wheelhouse, I bring in partners who specialize in those areas.

    • WooCommerce Subscriptions site generating millions of revenue annually with a custom loyalty program and store credit system built from scratch
  • Learning Management:
    • LearnDash implementation with SAML SSO supporting unlimited identity providers for a multinational enterprise
    • LearnDash implementation with AffiliateWP, Shopify, ClickBank, and ClickFunnels integrations.
  • API & Platform Integrations:
    • Connected WordPress, headless frontends, and standalone applications to ERPs, CRMs, Payments, MLS, Financial Services APIs, AI platforms, and proprietary business systems.
  • Headless & Non-WordPress Platforms:
    • A directory site with a Hugo frontend, WordPress as a headless CMS, and Meilisearch
    • Laravel app for a check-in kiosk

    • Hugo monorepo for static business blogs with GitHub Actions CI and Kinsta Static hosting
  • Project Rescue:
    • Rescued and delivered an AI-powered genetic health analysis platform built with React and Python.
    • Took over from another vendor, stabilized the codebase, and brought the product to production.

    • Automated deployment workflows and server provisioning
