Challenge
Task and project context was scattered across Asana workspaces, requiring teams to jump between views to track dependencies, statuses, and assignments. Assembling a current picture of project health meant navigating multiple boards and timelines manually.
The bigger concern was risk. Teams wanted to connect new tools to their Asana data but could not justify the possibility of accidental changes to active projects. Without a safe, read-only option, adoption stalled.
Solution
84EM built an integration with a read-only safety mode that gives teams full visibility across their Asana workspaces without any risk to live data. Teams can query tasks, track project status, and identify blockers with the confidence that nothing can be modified unintentionally.
The safety-first approach removed the biggest adoption blocker: teams could connect to production workspaces immediately, then selectively enable write access as confidence grew.
Key Capabilities
- Read-only safety mode that disables all write operations with a single setting, letting teams connect to production workspaces without risk of accidental changes.
- Full project visibility including task dependencies, status tracking, and blocker identification – surfacing the information teams usually piece together across multiple Asana views.
- Guided task management with structured prompts for task summaries, completeness analysis, and new task creation that reduce the back-and-forth of project coordination.
Results
Teams that previously spent time switching between Asana views to assemble project status now get that context in one place. Dependency chains and blockers are surfaced immediately rather than requiring manual navigation across boards and timelines.
The read-only safety mode proved critical for enterprise adoption, giving IT and project management teams the confidence to approve access to production workspaces. Teams could start with read-only visibility and expand to full management once they validated the workflow.
