We developed a custom WordPress plugin to bulk import PDF files for a financial services company.
The client uploads hundreds of financial documents to their website throughout the year, from Annual & Semi-Annual Reports to Prospectuses and TSRs.
The documents are affiliated with Funds and Tickers, both custom post types in WordPress, and are attached to the post types using the Advanced Custom Fields plugin.
Our plugin provides an import screen that allows the client to upload a single ZIP file containing PDF files and a Spreadsheet indicating which file belongs to which Fund or Ticker.
With a single click, the plugin bulk processes everything, importing the PDF files to the WordPress Media Libary, parsing the Spreadsheet to know which PDF goes where, and then adding them to the custom post types.
The solution makes managing documents simpler for the client and most importantly, saves them a lot of time on the menial task of uploading documents one by one.
